Matison LeBlanc is a Louisiana-born filmmaker whose work is rooted in the untold stories of her culture, community, and the female condition. Drawing from her background in painting, theatre, and writing, Matison brings visual poetry and emotional authenticity to every project she creates.
A first-generation Summa Cum Laude graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, she has written and directed five short films and one commercial, earning multiple festival awards. Her in-development debut feature, Ada and the Doc, is based on the untold true story of the first woman executed by the state of Louisiana in her hometown of Morgan City, Louisiana. The film’s proof-of-concept short sold out its local premiere with over 500 attendees and screened three times at the 2025 Festival de Cannes. The Ada and the Doc feature screenplay is currently in the top 5% of all projects on The Blacklist.
Beyond her own projects, she has sharpened her leadership and communication skills on professional productions for Amazon MGM, AMC, A&E, and the NFL, and has expanded her global industry perspective through internships with the American Pavilion’s Cannes 2024 Worldwide Student Program and with Lionsgate’s International Sales Team in 2025. She was the second place winner for the Cannes Video Contest Presented by The American Pavilion & IndieWire in 2024, and was featured in IndieWire three times in 2025.
Matison is currently a finalist for the 2026 Sundance Collab Cultural Impact Residency and has been shortlisted by The Blacklist to possibly become the recipient of the 2026 Michael Collyer Memorial Fellowship in Screenwriting through the Writers Guild Initiative.
